2017 Grape Picking Experience

2017 Grape Picking Experience

DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED

Are you a recent retiree who can't sit still, a city soul looking for a viticulture adventure or just have a bit of time up your sleeve? If so, read on.  Sometime in March we'll be meandering through our vines as the sun rises around us, handpicking the very best of our ripened grapes. We'll then watch on as the grapes are crushed and the winemaking process begins. To celebrate, we'll be hosting an exclusive post-harvest twilight wine and cheese tasting. Keen to join us?

The event is free, and open to everyone... the only catch being that given the nature of viticulture, we can't pin point exactly what day our grapes will ripen and therefore what day we'll be picking. Therefore, if you do decide to join us, flexibility is key. At this stage, we are expecting to pick sometime in Mid-March, but we'll hopefully know a few days prior to picking and and of course will let those who've signed up for the event know as soon as we can.

If you are interested in participating in this year’s harvest, please email us - you would be a welcome guest. Given the uncertainty in dates, we understand if you sign up to pick grapes but later are unable to attend.

A note from the Vigneron

Veraison started 12 days later than previous years (when we picked in late February and early March). This might put vintage into the 2nd week of March but if it stays hot maybe it will come back a few days?

Once the grapes (Shiraz) are ripe we will book a slot at the winery with only a few days notice to organise the picking team. We will start at daybreak when it is cool and try to get the last grapes into the winery before lunch so that the grapes don’t overheat. It is all over very quickly.

LIZ STRINGER (AU) - “ALL THE BRIDGES” ALBUM TOUR 2016

Yeates Wines is sponsoring the launch of Liz Stringer's latest album amongst Mudgee's iconic vineyards. A not to be missed event.

LIZ STRINGER (AU) - “ALL THE BRIDGES” ALBUM TOUR 2016 - Tickets $25

With acclaimed producer/engineer Adam Selzer at the helm (The Decemberists, Jolie Holland, Fleet Foxes, M Ward), All The Bridges was recorded over 8 days in July 2015 at Type Foundry Studio in Portland, Oregon, USA. The result is a vibrant and assured album, playing tribute to the new West Coast and Americana sound while staying true to Stringer’s roots; telling the common story of the simple soul through folk and rock and roll, layered with bold electric guitars and rich background vocals.

Liz has garnered a reputation as being one of Australia’s most respected and critically acclaimed songwriters and performers. A passionate advocate of independent music and extensive regional touring, she has become a favourite among punters across Australia for her generous and engaging stage demeanour and her skill as a storyteller. As Mick Thomas puts it, “Her performance is as intense as it is personable, as profane as it is sacred”.

Ruth Gobbitt 'Family Matters' Exhibition

Ruth Gobbitt 'Family Matters' Exhibition

  • 13 Lewis Street Mudgee, NSW, 2850 Australia (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Ruth uses images and forms from nature as metaphors to explore the big themes of life; death; relationships & resilience. Her trees branch out in both limb and rooted foundations to get nourishment. Simultaneously struggling and thriving in rocky ground, while providing a home and nutrients for others.

This exhibition started as 'Family Trees' but soon evolved as there became more than trees and more that mattered. The thought that "being born where you were born carries with it certain responsibilities", a quote from Sir Paul McCartney, led Ruth to reflect on family as well as place.

The family we are born into, the family we create, the family we choose, those that we are gifted and the family of man.  Sometimes very serious (exploring the feelings around the loss of a child) to expressing the usual delight in nature and light humour, Ruth's paintings in oil, acrylic and mixed media are explosions of colour and heartfelt emotion.
