A collection of our favourite spots in and around Mudgee.

  • Eating

    Cafés & Restaurants

    • ALBY & ESTHERS. Our favourite café in town and a local hangout.

    • MUDGEE SOURDOUGH & ALTHEA: just a few hundred metres separates these two spots but they both do scrumptious pastries and naughty treats, along with bread and savoury snacks. Grab a coffee at Althea or at the Corner Store next door while you’re at it.

    • PARKVIEW: Good cafe away from the crowds.

    • BILLY BOILS: Away from the crowds and an unexpected delight. Good coffee, bacon and egg rolls and some seriously yummy lunch - think fish tacos, chicken burgers and Korean fried chicken.

    • CADE’S KITCHEN: A great café and restaurant in the CBD.

    Restaurants at Wineries:

    • PIPECLAY PUMPHOUSE: A bucket list spot and local favourite. The food here is mostly grown on the property and delicious! Pair it with the Robert Stein wine collection and you’ll tick a wine tasting off the list at the same time. Their Riesling and Chardonnary are top of our list at the moment.

    • ZIN HOUSE: Another must-visit foodie fave. This hatted restaurant is on-site at Lowe Wines so you’ll once again be covering two birds with one stone. The venue is beautiful and the food delightful.

    • OUR CHOW. A great spot for brunch or lunch followed by a wine tasting at on-site winery Burrundulla (great wines!).

    • DI LUSSO: Great Pizza and setting.

    Pubs

    • THE PARAGON: Local fave, good food & vibe, away from the crowds

    • THE ORIENTAL: Great local bar area and big menu.

    • THE LAWSON: Great Italian food and steak.

Other Eating, Takeaway & In-House Catering

    • MUDGEE FARMERS’ MARKET: Great locally made goodies you wouldn’t find in Sydney.

    • BAKING BIRD: Give Sharon a call and have her knock you up a reheat & eat style dinner to enjoy at your B&B together with a glass of Yeates wines.

    • TAKEAWAY: The Eatery (Pizza - order early!), MyThai, Rajarani (Indian).

  • Drinking

    Breweries & Distillery:

    • MUDGEE BREWING CO: It has new owners doing great things. Fantastic food, central and with great drinks options.

    • THREE TAILS BREWERY: Central, great vibe, huge list of beer and some great food - smoked meats, tacos etc.

    • BAKER WILLIAMS DISTILLERY: Butterscotch Schnapps, Lemon Myrtle Liqeuer, gin, rum, whisky etc. The best!

    Wine Bars:

    • ROTHS WINE BAR. Live music, pizzas and a good vibe.

    • DANCING GOAT. New & fun.

    • ELTONS. Good atmosphere.

    Wineries (with food):

    • WINERY RESTAURANTS: see the eating section.

    • LOGAN: Bucket list stuff. Spectacular views from their modern cellar door and some delicious wines to add to it - great Riesling & Shiraz.

    • THE CELLAR BY GILBERT: An all rounder, with beautiful cellar door close to town, lovely lunch offerings and great wines and people.

    • VINIFERA: Delicious, organic wines. Love their bubbly and Cabernet.

    • BURNBRAE: Great Sunday sessions with pizza, beer, wine & live music.

    • HUNTINGTON: Great old-vine wines and new food options.

    Wineries (without food):

    • HESLOP: Next door, small and seriously special wines.

    • ROSBY: beautifully designed cellar door, art gallery and sculpture garden. Great people. Love their Shiraz & Chardonnay.

    • SLOWFOX: Cool people keeping it simple, small range but great wine.

    • FIRST RIDGE: Great views, fantastic Italian-style wines.
